Quality of life parameters in children with cancer in long-term remission

The aim of the study was to evaluate QoL parameters of children with cancer in long-term remission (age 8-18 years) and to study the distribution of children according to the grades of QoL impairment. QoL parameters in children in long-term remission are slightly lower than in healthy children of the same age and gender.

Five groups of children in long-term remission were identified: the group with no QoL impairment, the group with mild QoL impairment, the group with moderate QoL impairment, the group with severe QoL impairment, and the group with critical QoL impairment. Among the children in long-term remission there are the ones with significant (more the 50 %) QoL impairment. The results obtained may be used for individualization of rehabilitation programs for this child population.
